A collaborative project with poet Helen Clare to create a large scale embroidered poem as part of the Manchester Science Festival 2008. The final poem is constructed as a tree of life/family tree and is made up of series of quotes and statements from the participating groups. Individual leaves were stitched by students from the Embroidery Programme at MMU to add “different voices” to the narrative. The cloth is usually on display at Nowgen (a genetics research centre) in Grafton St Manchester. However between October to November 2010 it forms part of an exhibition promoting the new “Machine Embroidery;Perspectives” book at the Knit and Stitch Shows in London and Harrogate.
