The banner and a selection of photos of its makers is now on display in the foyer of Manchester town hall, it is open to the public and anyone can pop into the beautiful surroundings to take a look.
There are over 60 signatures and names sewn onto the cloth, all varied in composition and design, reflecting the mix of participants and those involved in the project. Countries range from China to Eritrea and the Czech Republic.
Of course my great ideas rapidly change with each collaboration, some of the visitors to Rainbow Haven have not had any formal education so writing their name is not something they have experience of, let alone a fluid signature. Nevertheless hand embroidery is something most women have knowledge of and with help from friends are able copy their name onto the cloth to stitch.
