World Aids Day Quilt

Respect and protect is a collaborative quilt made for World Aids Day comprised of hundreds of red ribbons and hand drawn cross stitches. It will be shown at the People’s History Museum in Manchester throughout Dec with an opening event on Thursday 1st Dec.

This was a public engagement project sponsored by the General Society for Microbiology. The quilt was worked with local groups. including Cedar Mount High School, Art and Science students at MMU and visitors to the Whitworth Art Gallery. Iconic red ribbons and red (cross) stitches make up the mainstay of the cloth. These combine with the words “Respect and Protect” a key slogan from the campaign.
