Summer 2019

I am looking forward to presenting an artist’s perspective at the ICOM conference in Kyoto in September. This world class event brings together those interested in shaping the future of museums. My paper explores the value of small local museums and how, through the interrogation of one hand stitched cloth, the community in Robin Hood’s Bay, North Yorkshire has been re- imagined.

Angela Rayner and the Mayor of Tameside attended the launch of Radical Locks at Portland Basin Museum in Tameside. The work was on display until the end of May and then moves to Rogue studios in Openshaw, Manchester until 24th August.

Haptic, a new project with Manchester School of Art students and the RNIB culminated in an event at teh Lowry Hotel in Manchester celebrating 150 years of the RNIB.

Stitching Together  the AHRC funded project took place in Somerset in April led by Emma Shercliff and Amy Twigger Holroyd. I was pleased to be invited to contribute.

My Sew Near Sew Far collaboration with the Bronte Museum was the subject of my presentation at the Textiles Society event at the Armitage centre in Manchester in April.
